BEHAVIORAL ANALYSIS AMONG FEMALE SEX WORKERS IN PREVENTION OF SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES HIV / AIDS IN SEMARANG CITY

Introduction: Transmission of HIV / AIDS in Indonesia is growing rapidly due to risky sexual behaviors between those sex workers and their clients who have not engaged in safe sexual practices yet. The purpose of this study obtained deep understanding of the commitment and behavior of female sex workers in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases HIV / AIDS in Semarang city. The research method used qualitative design with phenomenology approach and the number of participants as many as 8 people selected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews using semi-structured questions. The data analysis was performed according to the steps of Colaizzi. This investigation obtained four themes include: prevention of infectious diseases, getting support from health personnel’s, hope for the future and the ability to do worship. Conclusion: Participants were able to recognize the risk of illness that threatens their health, thus they should obey suggestions from health workers to conduct health screening regularly and try to use condoms while serving the guests.
