ABSTRACK

Zakat has an important role for sustainable development, and the low number of zakat collection will leave problems related to poverty. This study aims to find a model that can optimize the collection of zakat funds effectively. This study uses a qualitative approach by conducting in-depth interviews with eight managers Amil Zakat Institutions (LAZ) in Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia. The results showed that efforts to optimize LAZ zakat fund collection can be done through five things, namely; reforming the managerial and financial systems, expanding the collection area by increasing the LAZ status, having an adequate organizational structure, building cooperation with other parties in collecting zakat, and implementing marketing strategies according to the times both with online and offline systems
