Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is systemic autoimmune disease with numerous immunological and clinical manifestations. It is characterized by an autoantibody response to nucleous antigens. The complex immune is the primary cause of tissue damage as well as clinical manifestations. Auto antibodies examination is important to make diagnosis and monitor the disease. Some patients have identified autoantibody which is spesific for SLE. Polyclonal antibody usually find in Auto antibodies so in interpretation of Laboratory Test requires an understanding on the method, substance and the objective. In systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), various auto-antibodies test have been developed including: Antinuclear antibody (ANA), Anti Extractable Nuclear antigen antibody, anti histon antibody, Anti-phospholipid antibody. Test should be sensitive and spesific as much as possible. The test results should demonstrates disease activity, predict relapse to enable the preventive measure. In fact, there has been no single ideal test. A test with very high specificity can have very low precision and vice versa.
