ELECTROCOAGULATION TECHNIQUE FOR REMOVAL OF COD AND TURBIDITY TO IMPROVE WASTEWATER QUALITY

An electrocoagulation (EC) technology was designed to increase settling velocity and to enhance turbidity removal efficiencies from wastewater to a value more than 95%. The static method treatment consisted of an EC batch reactor with two parallel iron (Fe) plates were performed. Wastewater sample was made from milk powder with initial COD of 1140 mg/L and turbidity of 491 NTU. DC current was varied from 0.5 1A, and operating time of between 30 50 minutes. The results show that during the EC process at the operating time, the COD decrease by more than 65 %.
