ABSTRACT

Over loaded is a phenomenon which much occur in many developing countries not excepted in Indonesia. Almost all national and provincial roads in Indonesia
have a worst condition and in a damage category. Even though is not the only reason of road deterioration, but dominantly over loaded is the reason of road damages. Traffic load is dominant function on pavement design because the main function of pavement is to resist traffic load. Traffic load are mentioned include volume (frequency) of traffic and weight of vehicle load (intensity). Traffic volume which accumulatively show the number of load repetition, is function of service of time. While weight of vehicle axle load in which it intensity depend on weight of axle load, axle configuration, and wheel configuration. Even thought traffic load is dominant function caused of road deterioration, in this paper also be analyzed the other factors of road damages, such as characteristic of pavement’s materials, Sub-grade where the pavement laid on, and the criteria of pavement failure. The result of the analyzed which shown graphically and in form of table is very alarming, especially for truck with single axle. Over loaded up 50% of single axle truck will caused road damage up to five times or 500%.
